Johnny Cash

Johnny Cash was a famous singer who was born in 1932 on February 26th. Before Johnny Cash became a music sensation, he was a farmer and also "enlisted in the US Air Force". The Landsberg Barbarians was the name of his first band as it was entitled this whilst he was still fighting in Germany.

Johnny Cash is fundamental in the foundations of rock and roll and Rockabilly. Johnny Cash’s songs were derived and enthused from the Great Depression as his family had “economic and personal struggles” which helped to stimulate his ideas. During the 1950’s Johnny Cash became addicted to drugs which consisted of: Amphetamines and Barbiturates.  Johnny Cash’s "rebellious image and often anti-authoritarian stark influenced Punk Rock". 

Cash was going through a rough patch with his marriage due to the amount of time in which he had to spend touring. Whilst on tour he began a relationship with June Carter in which he divorced his wife Vivian in 1966 and Johnny married June Carter in 1968. June Carter was "the bed rock of American Folk and Country Music". 

In September 2003 Johnny Cash died and was a phenomenon who would leave behind a great legacy for many years to come.
