Psychobilly Subculture

The way in which I was drawn to the Psychobilly subculture is that it has a hidden message behind their music. They dressed in a way in which to define their own style and genre. They wanted to define themselves as a subculture which expanded into Europe.  The fundamental countries were "Germany, Italy, Spain and Denmark". Furthermore the movement also expanded into Japan. I feel that their music and ominous style depicts individuality.

The subculture ‘Psychobilly’ was first derived from music. The use of the term was first found in the song “one piece at a time” written by Wayne Kemp for Johnny Cash”. There are three distinctive groups which portray the Psychobilly movement which consists of “the three-man band" which "included a punk rocker, a rockabilly and a horror film fanatic”. The subculture depicts “elements of 1950’s rockabilly glamour with punk”.

This style of genre depicts the mode of horror, a style of oddity resembling stark differences in clothing, hair styles and non-conforming to the general public of the lifestyle of its day. The music rockabilly, rap and Punkabilly relates to the strength of personalities of the youth. Each one desiring to be special in a culture of various ideas. Music enables you to define who you are and to be able to define your personality. An example of a Psychobilly band is the Meteors which were created in the 1980’s and they had a massive impact on the Psychobilly movement. This was the beginning of the formation and revolution of the music industry.
